Social Media Guidelines

At Happy Science, we have created guidelines aimed at promoting the appropriate use of social media for personal use, such as Facebook, Twitter, LINE, and Google+. Here, we will provide a summary of those guidelines. While they are targeted at staff and branch leaders of the Happy Science Group, we also recommend them to all members.

1. Let's include a disclaimer.

When you identify yourself as a staff member or branch leader of the Happy Science Group, it is important to note that even anonymously, it can be relatively easy to identify the poster through past posts or interactions. Please clearly state in your profile, etc., that "the opinions and activities expressed do not represent those of Happy Science."

Example: "The content of this post is my personal opinion and does not represent the views of my organization or department."

2. Be careful of copyright infringement and information leaks.

Be cautious not to engage in acts that infringe on the rights of others, such as unauthorized posting of others' photos or writings, or unauthorized use of the faces or characters of celebrities in profile pictures. Also, please be very careful about information leaks.

3. Protect our members and related companies and organizations.

The Happy Science Group's activities are diverse and supported by many members and related companies and organizations. Let's ensure that important information about these individuals is well protected. Avoid publicly disclosing behaviors without permission, and also refrain from posts that could identify individuals or companies. Be mindful not to cause any disadvantage to our members or related companies and organizations.

4. Carefully review the content you post.

Even if using a pseudonym or anonymously, social media can lead to the identification of individuals through past posts. Understand that behaviors may be made public and that once information is released, it is extremely difficult to completely erase it. If there are errors in your posts, promptly correct them and publicly acknowledge the corrections. Each person's behavior significantly impacts the credibility of the Happy Science Group.

5. Be cautious with Facebook friend requests and group functions.

Reports of impersonation and sophisticated scams using real-name systems and friend systems have been made, so do not easily approve friend requests and always verify whether you know the person. Additionally, when using group functions, check whether the group is set as "secret," "private," or "public," and be careful with your statements. When creating unofficial groups related to Happy Science, avoid group names that could easily be mistaken for official ones (e.g., "Happy Science," "Happy Science Group," "HAPPY SCIENCE," etc.) and include a disclaimer.

Example: "This group is unofficial. Any interactions are not the views of Happy Science, so please use it with this understanding."

6. Always maintain sincerity.

Social media is an open space where many people gather. It is a place where discussions can easily arise, but strive for constructive dialogue without becoming emotional. As taught in Happy Science, remember to maintain a spirit of love and reflection.

*Staff members must also read the detailed guidelines on the intranet.
