Jealousy and Blessing - Guidelines of the Heart by Ryuho Okawa, President - 215 -

President Ryuho Okawa's original work "Guidelines of the Heart" is serialized in the Happy Science's publication Monthly 'Happy Science'. Posters are displayed at branches nationwide, and it is widely known as the monthly face of Happy Science.

This month, a method to overcome feelings of "jealousy" and "curses" that arise through comparison and competition with others was presented. We spoke with Ichiro Kojima, one of the producers of the currently showing movie 'Curse Reversal Master - Shio's Birth' open_in_new, incorporating his own experiences.

Born in Tokyo in 1971. Graduated from Nihon University, Faculty of Science and Technology. Joined Happy Science in 1995. Has held positions such as Deputy Director of the Political Headquarters and Director of the Tokyo Seishinkan Training Bureau, and has been in his current position since November 2020.

Realizing the 'Critical Mind'

After reading this month's 'Jealousy and Blessing', I strongly felt the Buddha's compassion looking at the suffering people in modern society from each line of words, and the power of the Buddha's wisdom showing the 'path to salvation' to escape from it.

I used to think, 'I don't get jealous much.' However, I learned from President Ryuho Okawa's scripture 'The Law of Success open_in_new' that 'the mind that criticizes others' is also jealousy, and I realized that I had a 'mindset of adding a comment' like, 'That person worked hard, but they have this flaw.' In the end, it does not celebrate others' success and justifies my lack of effort in that direction, which is indeed 'denial of self-realization.'

Since then, to switch my heart's vector, whenever I have thoughts of criticizing others, I honestly write them down on paper and reflect. When I write them out, I can clearly see that my thoughts differ from the Buddha's compassionate heart, and as I ponder, 'How would it look from the Buddha's perspective?', I gradually start to see the strengths of the other person. Through this repeated reflection, I have come to deeply feel gratitude towards the Buddha, who loves both the strengths and weaknesses of humanity.

Many people are suffering from jealousy in today's competitive society, but if you continue to think, 'I hate that person' or 'That person is bad', it becomes a 'curse' that makes both parties unhappy.

The solution to such suffering can be found in the currently showing movie 'Curse Reversal Master - Shio's Birth'. The protagonist, Shio, is like a representative of the Buddha, driving away the spirits and evil spirits that possess people through the Buddha's teachings (Buddhist truth). As you watch, you might realize, 'I might have cursed others too' or be able to reflect, making it a 'refreshing movie for the heart'.

Such salvation exists because of the great Buddha, who loves and forgives all people, and I hope many will feel the Buddha's gaze through this work.

'Curse Reversal Master - Shio's Birth' is a movie of salvation.

'Watching this work gives you a good understanding of the state of the heart's world. For example, those who blame and curse others tend to be strong, but weaker types may also be 'cursing themselves' with thoughts like 'I'm not worth it'.
