This month, the concept of "One Day, One Life," which is an important guideline when feeling stuck in life, has been discussed. I would like to introduce the story of Tomoko Uesugi from the Happy Science Chiba Headquarters, who faced her own heart while overcoming cancer and realized the meaning of "One Day, One Life."
President Ryuho Okawa's original work "Guidance for the Heart" is serialized in the Happy Science pamphlet Monthly 'Happy Science'. Posters are also displayed at branches nationwide, and it is widely known as the monthly face of Happy Science.
For those who want to read the guidance for the heart in the monthly magazine, please check the November issue of 'Happy Science'.
Diagnosed with cancer, prepared for death
When living casually, one tends to think that "every day continues as a matter of course." However, after reading this "Guidance for the Heart," I felt it is important to reconsider, "If I were to die today, what can I do?"
I had an experience of preparing for death nine years ago. Suddenly, I felt a sharp pain in my abdomen and was diagnosed with ovarian cancer at the hospital I was taken to. My mind went blank, and at that moment, all the suffering from work and the troubles in my relationships vanished. What surged from the depths of my heart was the regret of not having expressed gratitude or given back to my family and friends. I couldn't stop crying for three days.
Fortunately, the surgery was successful, and I continued my recovery.
The happiness of living 'One Day, One Life'
After that, I recalled President Ryuho Okawa's teachings that "about 70% of illnesses have their roots in the heart" and "the cause of cancer lies in self-punishment thoughts," and I reflected on my heart. As I deepened my reflection, I realized that my perfectionist tendency of "continuously blaming myself for not being able to work as I wish" was the cause of my cancer.
Then, as I slowly reread the section on "the power to forgive sins" in President Okawa's book 'The Law of Great Enlightenment ', I felt that no matter how imperfect I am, the divine beings forgive me and watch over my growth. This made me feel that it was okay to accept my natural self, and the suffering of blaming myself began to fade away.
Having experienced a serious illness, I have come to deeply appreciate the importance of each day and have been able to walk a "life of giving back" by sharing love with those around me. Now, I feel very happy thinking, "I am glad to be of service to the divine beings and those around me today." Even when I face difficulties at work, I have come to see them as seeds for my growth and as love from the divine. With this change in my heart, my cancer has been completely cured, and there has been no recurrence.
From now on, I will continue to convey this teaching with gratitude to the divine beings every day.
