President Ryuho Okawa's original work "Guideline of the Heart" is serialized in the Happy Science's publication Monthly 'Happy Science'. Posters are displayed at branches nationwide, and it is widely known as the monthly face of Happy Science.

This month's "Guideline of the Heart" discussed the joy and significance of studying itself, which goes beyond just being a means to obtain academic qualifications and credentials. What meaning does studying have? We spoke with Principal Muku Tomioka of Happy Science Academy Kansai School open_in_new.

After reading this month's guideline, I felt that the foundation of President Ryuho Okawa's efforts from childhood, soaring from Tokushima to Tokyo and overseas, and establishing Happy Science that spreads worldwide, was indeed the 'power of academics.'

In a certain Dharma talk*, President Okawa mentioned that since his teenage years, he has wished to become a being who can save many people and has continued to strive for that. The fact that he enjoyed the diligence of studying for that purpose is truly the state of 'Effort Equals Happiness.'

The first time I held President Okawa's book was 34 years ago, just before graduating from university when I had lost sight of my goals. One day, after returning from a public bath, I stopped by a bookstore, picked up a religious book, and realized, 'Ah, this is what I was looking for!' It was a sudden enlightening experience. That was President Okawa's work. Since then, I have read numerous books on the truth of Buddhism, learning about how humans undergo reincarnation multiple times for soul training and the existence of the spiritual world, and I was filled with joy at encountering such undeniable truths.

I believe that learning the truth of Buddhism is the most important thing for humans. After the war, Japan excluded religion from public education, but without any exposure to religion, if one does not believe in deities or the afterlife, it leads to the mindset of 'as long as no one finds out, it's fine to do bad things.'

At Happy Science Academy, we learn the 'perspective of deities' through religious education. Normally, we view things from a 'self-centered' perspective, but developing the habit of seeing oneself and the world through 'the eyes of deities' will manifest great value over a long life.

Everyone has a time when they must study for exams, but I hope that students can embody the feeling that 'learning itself is enjoyable.' I am convinced that having big dreams and aspirations leads to the path of knowing 'Effort Equals Happiness.'
