Happy Science was founded in 1986 by its founder, Ryuho Okawa.

The teachings of President Okawa are the teachings of the Earth God El Cantare who integrates all religions.

While answering fundamental questions such as 'Where do we come from and where are we going?' and 'Why are we born?' and 'What is the nature of this world?', these teachings continue to provide answers to the changing global situation and the upcoming cosmic age, bearing the mission of a world religion that will endure even 3,000 years from now.

Happy Science clarifies the thoughts of gods and buddhas and the state of the afterlife, conveying a way of life for humans to achieve happiness from the depths of their souls, transcending differences in language, race, culture, and religion, and spreading to over 193 countries.

Those who are troubled and suffering find their lives turning around, and those who are happy experience happiness from the depths of their souls.

By changing their hearts with faith, many people have experienced the 'miracles of life opening up'.

The fundamental scripture of Happy Science is 'The Buddha's Teachings: The True Heart Sutra', and its basic doctrine is 'The Pursuit of the Right Heart'. The specific practical guidelines for 'The Pursuit of the Right Heart' are the principles of happiness, 'The Four Right Paths' (Love, Wisdom, Reflection, Development).

Ryuho Okawa, the President of Happy Science, teaches a variety of doctrines, including religious truths, life philosophy, work, management, history, education, the universe, and even specific opinions on politics and economics.

These diverse teachings are summarized into three pillars: 'Love', 'Enlightenment', and 'Utopian Construction'.

The teaching of 'Love' is about standing on the side of giving, rather than receiving love, and living each day wishing for the happiness of others.
'Enlightenment' means knowing the essence of oneself and the world created by the Buddha, and knowing the purpose and mission of life.

'Utopian Construction' means 'improving society through love and enlightenment.'

In Happy Science, the four paths of love, wisdom, reflection, and development (the Four Right Paths) are taught as the 'principles of happiness'. By practicing the Four Right Paths, you can find solutions to personal troubles and even provide answers to national issues such as politics and economics.

In Happy Science, we explore 'the spiritual view of life', which transcends this world and the afterlife, seeking the true happiness for humans. Humans are spiritual beings with souls residing in their bodies, and the heart is their essence. We reincarnate many times through this world and the afterlife, growing our souls through various life experiences. Gods and buddhas exist, guiding humanity through the past, present, and future. This view of life that accepts such spiritual truths is called 'the spiritual view of life.'

Humans are beings who live with a soul (heart) residing in their bodies. Even when the body perishes through death, the soul does not die. Retaining the experiences and memories of this world, the soul returns to the afterlife and eventually resides in a new body to be born into this world again. We are reborn many times (reincarnation), accumulating new experiences, and our souls aim for eternal improvement.

Souls exist as a group of six. When one of the six is born on Earth, one of the others in the afterlife becomes their guardian spirit. The guardian spirit protects the sibling born on Earth and helps them progress in their studies in this world. The guardian spirit can also be said to be the 'subconscious' of their own consciousness.

Prayer, Teaching, Reflection are the basics of faith life. Additionally, members strive to have the 'bgiving love' that wishes for the happiness of others.

Starting with evangelical activities rooted in the community, we hold lecture meetings, prayers, study sessions, seminars, and activities for groups such as the women's and youth divisions. It serves as a community heart square and is the base of activities for Happy Science.

It is a worship and training facility of Happy Science, where we hold training and prayers to refine the heart away from the busy daily life. There are temples in scenic locations where you can relax both physically and mentally, as well as urban temples that cater to modern lifestyles.

From the early days of Happy Science, it was foreseen that its activities would expand from religious reform to political reform, economic reform, educational reform, artistic reform, literary reform, and corporate system reform (Refer to 'Principle of Happiness' open_in_new Part 2 'Principle of Love'). To realize a world centered on the hearts of gods and Buddhas, and to create a society where people can truly live happily, Happy Science is developing various group activities that transcend the framework of 'religion'.
